Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need therapy?

Therapy can help you explore things that are troubling you, whether they are from the past or from the present.
Sometimes people are unhappy about aspects of themselves that they want to change or are struggling with a situation within their family, friends or at work.

What happens in a therapy session?

The therapist offers you a safe place to talk about your worries by listening to and reflecting on what you share. You control what you want to talk about and what you want to achieve.

What issues can therapy help with?

People want to talk about a wide range of problems, including, experiences of abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, eating problems, low self esteem and lack of confidence, relationship issues and loneliness.

How do I start with a therapist?

The first step is to make contact and arrange an initial appointment. This is free, and I will spend time with you to hear what you want from therapy. Together, we will determine if I am the right therapist for you and agree on what we will work on together.

Do you offer group work?

Yes I offer group work, this is on a bespoke basis currently and costs £30 per person per session.

Will my therapy sessions be confidential?

Yes, therapy sessions are confidential; I am ethically bound to keep what you share private.

I am obliged to have a supervisor overseeing my work to ensure I am offering a high standard. We might discuss aspects of my work with you. I will not reveal your identity, and the supervisor is also obliged to protect the privacy of the information shared.

Exceptions to confidentiality

1. If your therapist became aware that you are in immediate danger or are a danger to others and you are unable or unwilling to seek help, the therapist would do so on your behalf.

2. If your therapist becomes aware you are intending to commit a serious crime of any sort.

How much does individual therapy cost?
